Sam’s Disposal was founded in the late 1980s by our father, Sam Ross. After years of working for other trash companies, Sam decided to build something of his own—driven by the simple goal of creating a better life for his family. He started small, loading handmade racks onto the family truck each week and serving local routes with dedication and pride.
Sam never set out to build a big company—just an honest one. He worked every day, without breaks or vacations, showing what real commitment looked like. His work ethic became the foundation of our family and the heart of our business.
Since Sam’s passing in 2015, his son Ben Ross has continued leading the company with those same values of integrity, hard work, and community. Today, Sam’s Disposal remains family-owned and rooted in Big Rapids, serving our neighbors with the same loyalty and dependability that Sam built his name on.
